Some women are annoyed by what they see as men’s breast fixation, some are puzzled by it, some love it. So to help you accept it for the fact it is, and the advantage it gives us; I have done some research on why men love breasts, and come up with some definitive answers.

They are the most obvious sign of femininity
They are highly visible
But they’re also (usually) tantalisingly out of sight
They are closer to eye level than a woman’s bottom
Men are not supposed to look at them. Which makes them want to look all that much more
They are the source of endless fantasies
Men don’t have their own, which makes them that much more mysterious and covetable
They feel amazing, so good that men never tire of stroking and fondling them

And that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Nothing rivets the male gaze as powerfully as a woman’s cleavage, and no man on earth has ever failed to notice a woman with lavish breasts. If there is ever a guy who says he doesn’t like breasts, well, he’s either lying or gay.

According to one man’s opinion I found during my research, the only reason breast wallpaper is not on every man’s computer is because they still haven’t invented one that is completely dribble-proof.

It could also be a serious impediment to actually getting any work done.

Men Themselves Have Done Self-Sacrificing Research On Why Men Love Breasts

Two American university professors recently donned sackcloth and ashes and devoted themselves to finding the definitive reason why men love breasts – who said science was boring?

For a couple of supposed intellectuals, their conclusions seemed little removed from those of a lad’s mag. Essentially their answer was ‘Phwaorrrr!!!’; dressed up in slightly less vulgar language (men will now be wondering where and how you can get a research grant to continue the study).

Their main thesis seems to be that stroking a woman’s breasts stimulates pair bonding, particularly in the woman, as it releases oxytocin (the “love hormone”) in her brain. This helps to fix her attention on her mate, and increases and strengthens her feelings for him. In effect, it makes the man more desirable to her.

They also postulate that it stimulates pleasurable memories of breast-feeding in the male.

Personally I think the latter thesis is bunkum, as the male fascination with breasts is universal, and includes men who were bottle fed as babies. Besides, who can actually remember back that far?

why men love breasts

Men just adore playing with things. And breasts are the most alluring playthings possible; feminine, soft, sensual, sexy, tactile and fun to play with.

Men’s Love Affair With Breasts Is Not a Recent Phenomenon

Men have fantasized over the sexiest parts of a woman’s body (and indeed the whole package) for centuries. The Song of Solomon (dated sometime BC) is crystal clear on that.

Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins,
which feed among the lilies.

How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, for delights!
This thy stature is like to a palm tree,
and thy breasts to clusters of grapes.

Solomon also exalts her eyes, her hair, her lips, her neck, her belly, her thighs, her feet and everything in between in his paean of love and lust to the Shulamite woman. She isn’t backward in praising his beauties either.

My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand.
His head is as the most fine gold, his locks are bushy, and black as a raven.

His legs are as pillars of marble, set upon sockets of fine gold: his countenance is as Lebanon, excellent as the cedars.
His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely.

Even further back, Paleolithic man painted naked women with huge breasts and hips all over their caves. It’s not known whether these were the caves they lived in with their families, or whether they served as a Paleolithic gentlemen’s club.

But what’s clear is that primitive man loved and valued the beauty of women’s bodies; every bit as much as modern man.

So to help us all understand exactly why men love breasts, I have uncovered the secret, the mystery, the riddle, the enigma of their allure.

How they look

How many times have you heard men talk about a woman’s curves? Curves are feminine. Curves are sexy. Curves are alluring.

Your breasts are one of the curviest parts of your body. They’re soft, they’re rounded, they define your figure; adding grace and poise to the way you move and walk. That’s why men love breasts.

Remember too that men respond to visual stimulation.

Whereas women often need time to become sexually aroused, men can be ready to perform in an instant. This is an evolutionary trait that gave primitive man the best chance of passing on his genes. For the average caveman, opportunity was uncertain, and danger was ever-present. He needed to be able to do the deed in seconds.

Consequently the male sexual response needed to be quick. And the quickest form of stimulation is visual. That’s why men are so quick to notice a woman’s physical attributes. And be attracted by them.

If your clothes are tight, or you’re not wearing a bra, or your cleavage is revealing, men just can’t stop themselves looking. And liking what they see.

How they feel

You know as well as any man that nothing feels quite like your breasts. That’s why so many men don’t like touching fake breasts; they just don’t feel anything like the real thing.

Men love how they feel in their hands.

They love their weight and their shape and their softness. They love kissing and fondling and caressing them; and they love it even more when this gets you excited and eager for more!

How they move

When you move, your breasts move with you – but often not quite in time. This is as riveting to the male gaze as your cleavage.

It’s what men notice when they sit at a pavement cafe and watch women walking by. It’s why the only women’s sport men ever watch is beach volleyball.

A man’s vision of heaven…

How they fascinate

Despite their visibility, your breasts are (usually) covered. This makes them mysterious.

What would they look like naked? How big are they? How firm? How round? A man can spend hours ruminating pleasurably on these mysteries.

That’s why cleavage is so mesmerizing to them. With cleavage there’s actually something to see, as well as a hint of what’s to come. Half revealed, half hidden. This is pure bamboozlement.

Does Size Matter?

No.

Are You Sure?

Yes.

Honestly, I have done the research, and it’s conclusive. If a guy can look at, or better still touch, a woman’s breasts, he is in heaven.

Some men do have preferences, but a breast in the hand in worth several hundred in the bush.

The thought that he might actually get to handle those glorious globes, to fondle, caress and stroke them, is practically frying his brains with excitement.

Some people think having large breasts makes a woman stupid.

Actually, it’s quite the opposite: a woman having large breasts makes men stupid.

It Annoys The Hell Out Of The Feminazi

Some women can get very antsy about men’s fixation on breasts, and make grandiose speeches about how they are not sexual, that they are only meant for feeding offspring, and certainly not as a pleasurable toy for men; and so on and so on.

After all, it’s not feminist to indulge masculine decadence or weakness.

why men love breasts

But if a woman’s breasts did exist exclusively to suckle offspring, then they wouldn’t develop at puberty and become an intrinsic part of a woman’s body for the rest of her life. They’d be flat until a woman became pregnant, and they’d go flat again once she’d finished nursing – just like they do in dogs, cats, horses, sheep, and all the other mammals whose udders do exist solely for nursing (including our closest relative, the chimpanzee).

Note the term “udders” here. Not a very pretty word, but if you insist your breasts are purely utilitarian, then that is the status to which you are reducing them.

You can’t escape the conclusion that they are intended to be objects of sexual desire, and men are not being weird or creepy by finding them alluring. And plenty of women get just as much pleasure from them as men – more, in fact, because they’re the ones whose bodies are being caressed.

Some women can actually experience orgasm through their breasts.

Like model train sets, they might have been intended for children, but it’s the fathers who end up playing with them.

Accept You May Never Fully Understand Why Men Love Breasts

In the film Notting Hill Julia Roberts asks her timid bookstore lover: “What is it about men and nudity, hmm? Particularly breasts. How can you be so interested in them?”

“Well…”

“But seriously, they’re just breasts. Every second person in the world has them”.

“Well, more than that, when you think about it. I mean, Meatloaf has a very nice pair”.

She laughs. “But they’re odd looking. Every second person in the world has them. Your mother has them. You’ve seen a thousand of them. What’s all the fuss about?”

Notting Hill was written by a man, but no man could make up these lines. He wouldn’t be capable of inventing them. They are obviously a parody of something a real woman said to him.

Why Men Love Breasts: A Final Insight

Some more illuminating male comments on why men love breasts:

“You could get lost in those boobs, and many men would like to – ideally for days.”

“They are round and soft and smooth and fun to play with.”

“I love them. Breasts I mean. I can swim in them until my fingers are all pruny.

“We like them because they’re there, and we don’t have them. Not that we want to have breasts ourselves, so much as we just have this uncontrollable urge to fondle yours.”

“If I were a woman, I’d sit at home and play with them all day.”

And so on.

So don’t bother wondering if he has noticed your breasts. In the time it takes to glance at you, he has noticed their shape, size, firmness, degree of levitation, and checked to see if he can see your nipples too (this can be a particular thrill for a guy, and is considered a great bonus).

It’s Best to Accept What Can’t Be Changed

I understand your feelings if you have a chest of such bountiful proportions that men frequently hold conversations with it. That is absolutely crass, and the men should be ashamed of themselves. They need to learn a few social graces, and some manners.

And if there are any men looking in; any woman who has experienced this will also vouch that your expression has glazed over, and you have stopped making sense (or even stopping speaking completely).

And that is not a cool, or a sexy look.

But it won’t make men’s fascination with breasts go away. And in the end, I’m not sure that there’s really any great mystery to it.

After all, men are not that complicated. And breasts simply have a straightforward message for them, held in a temptingly noticeable and touchable package: Breasts! Woman! Sex!

Don’t underestimate the strength of your sexual sway over a man who finds you desirable. It’s powerful.

But it can easily be squandered.

And that’s a shame, particularly when it can be the basis of an enduring hold over him. A hold that can get – and keep – him devoted to you, for as long as you want.

It’s a hold that many women don’t even know exists; let alone how powerful it is. Find out what that hold is, and how to nurture it, here.

    This is great!
I really feel I’ve got a revealing insight into how men think and how they react to different aspects of femininity. Thanks!

However…I still think men’s view of women can be a bit shallow, and I find that depressing. There has to be more than just sex for a good relationship.

    1. Sarah

Yes, men’s view of women can be shallow – some men. And women’s view of men can be shallow too – is he rich? Powerful? Famous? Some women, that is. Not every woman is a catch, not every men is a gem. That’s why it’s better not to allow your emotions to overrule your judgement whenever you meet an attractive man. Take time to get to know him first.

    Are men really this shallow?

    1. Sarah

Some men are shallow, as are some women. And men will always respond to visual stimulation, because that’s how they’re set up to work sexually. But most men would say there’s far more to a relationship than just the physical side. And this isn’t about the full nature of men, just an intriguing and sometimes annoying quirk. Lighten up!

I just feel men shouldn’t be looking at my breasts. Why don’t they care about my intelligence instead?

    1. Sarah

You seem to have missed the central message of this article. Men are visual creatures, and respond to the physical manifestations of femininity. It’s absolutely pointless to fight against it. so why would you want to? It doesn’t mean that men don’t value your intelligence too – they do. Attraction – LASTING attraction – is both a physical and a mental thing. Intelligent men LOVE clever women (find out more about that here).
